Would you stay in these hotels?

Let’s face it, international hotels can be pretty bland. They’re just like a high street, you’ve seen one, you’ve seen them all. It’s Tuesday, it must be New York. But a long away from corporate blandness, there’s a whole range of different hotels across the world that offer something different for the, let’s say, more intrepid traveller.

A capsule hotel in Japan

I suppose these are the ultimate functional business hotel. You arrive, you shower, you sleep (or the other way round) and you go. Very minimalist, not good for couples wanting to spend the night together as the cubicles are individual and there’s separate lifts for men and women. Great design though!

The Ice Hotel in Sweden

Every year in November across Scandinavia and Canada, hardy people build hotels out of the ice. Only to see them melt again when the Spring comes round. A wonderfully pointless but beautiful experience. When can I book?

Jules’ Undersea Lodge

There’s only one question to ask here, why?

Fancy breakfast with a giraffe?

As less strange place because you can avoid the wildlife, but go on, you’d have a peek, wouldn’t you?

You can also sleep in a harbour crane in Amsterdam, in a water tower high above Cologne or down a drain on the banks of the Danube. If you want something different then, these may well be for you. I don’t think any of them would change your insurance quote much but be sure to mention it when you call, the staff like something interesting to talk about.
