Two words: thank you. We had a formidable response to our 2017 travel survey. And now we have totted up the results, we are ready to reveal some fascinating findings on your travel likes, dislikes, desires and habits. Ready? 

Back when 2017 was still in its infancy, we invited our customers and readers to take part in the World First 2017 Travel Survey. The aim was simple. To get a deeper understanding of modern travel habits. You answered in droves. And having sliced and diced the data, we are finally ready to reveal the results.

You told us how you plan your holidays, where you like to visit and who you like to travel with. You filled us in on your likes and dislikes when it came to buying travel insurance. And you lifted the lid on how frequently you travel, which gadgets you like to travel with and how often you have had to claim on your travel insurance policy.

Who took part in the survey?

Before we dive into the results throughout the coming weeks, it’s useful to give you an idea of who took part in the survey. Well, over 1,500 people completed the questions. That’s more than enough to extract some really meaningful insight on popular travel trends.

There were participants in every adult age bracket, from 18 year olds up to travellers in their nineties. The three most popular age brackets were 60-69, 70-79 and 50-59 - forming 33%, 21% and 19% of our respondents respectively.

Respondents were fairly evenly distributed across the UK, with people from England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all taking part. London and the South East, the Midlands and the North West are well represented. Just 1.34% of survey respondents were non-UK residents.
