Paris: how it may affect your travel policy
Following the recent terrorist attack in Paris, we wanted to put out a quick blog post for any of our customers who are due to visit France in the near future and to make it clear where you stand in terms of your travel insurance.
Firstly it must be said that our thoughts are with the victims’ families and those involved.
After such tragic events it’s only natural that some people will be reluctant to travel. The current FCO advice warns British nationals to “exercise caution in public places and to keep movement around Paris to a minimum”.
Where you stand with our cover
Our policies do not contain cancellation cover for this kind of FCO advice so if you wish to cancel your trip, it must be done through the tour operator. However, if you decide to change your destination and have been offered an alternative by your tour operator then we are more than happy to shift the policy to fit the new trip. If you are unable to move the trip to an alternative destination, we are able to offer a refund of premium on the understanding that no claim is to be made.
If you are coming home early
If you are currently in Paris and thinking of cutting short your trip, please talk to your tour operator. However, if you are travelling independently, you should make your own arrangements to leave. If you need to claim additional expenses we will look at this sympathetically.
